April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and piano classes, which ignited her interest in music writing. When she was 12 years old, April came up with her first original song Different. At the age of 14 April was a big devotee of her time writing and practicing songs. After a while, she began to travel with her dad as well as write her songs either in NY or LA. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled in the face of peer pressure, disability or suicide.
